Gold Coast Councillor Gets TED Installed — and Tells Constituents About It

May 2025

When Gold Coast City Councillor Glenn Tozer saw how TED could help his constituents reduce the cost of living, we didn't expect him to move quite this fast.

Within a few hours of our first conversation, Patrick was at Glenn's home on the Gold Coast installing TED. The whole thing took about ten minutes.

Glenn chairs the City of Gold Coast's Lifestyle, Environment, Heritage and Resilience (LEHR) Committee and represents Division 9, which has over 5,000 homes with pools. He's not someone who endorses things lightly. So when he posted the video to his Facebook page the next morning, we paid attention.

In his own words:

"From time to time, I come across a trial or deal that is available in the public domain but no-one seems to know much about. This past fortnight I came across a trial in partnership with Energex seeking to help people save money on the energy they use to run their pools."

He went on to describe the installation experience, his expected savings of between $200 and $400 a year, and directed his followers to sign up before the trial closes.

The response was immediate.

Why this matters

Pool pumps are one of the largest energy costs in Australian homes, often second only to air-conditioning. Most pool owners have no idea what their pump is costing them, and even fewer know that the timing and duration of pump cycles has a significant impact on both energy use and water quality.

TED takes the guesswork out of it. The smart pool controller connects to your home Wi-Fi, talks to our app, and optimises your pump scheduling automatically, saving pool owners on average between $225 and $450 a year on electricity.

The Energex partnership means we can offer the device at a fully refundable $49 deposit for trial participants — the unit retails at $149.

Limited spots remaining

Energex is subsidising 200 units for the trial. Spots are going quickly and installation must be completed by the end of May.

If you're a SE Queensland pool owner, join the trial here.
